By nmager
Created Jan 9 2008 - 10:21am

The Westside Republican Club held its regular meeting January 8 due to the first Tuesday falling on January 1.  The Club voted to participate in the Relay for Life and is looking for additional Republicans that would like to walk on our team.  Call 845-6910 (Republican Satellite Office) if you want to become a "Westside Walker".  Last year we raised $5000 for cancer research.

A report given from the December 18 meeting with Rep. Aaron Bean regarding Amendment 1 on the January 29 ballot. For more information, go to far.org (Florida Association of Realtors)(pro), floridataxwatch.org (private, non-profit, non-partisan research institute) (pro) or flcities.com (Florida League of Cities) (con) and make up your own mind.  Be an informed voter.

A presentation on voting statistics and the westside's need for precinct workers was given by Wanda Arnold.  Anyone interested in becoming a precinct worker is invited to attend the Republican Executive Committee meeting on Thursday, January 17 at 7:00 p.m.  It's held at the County Building on Page's Dairy Road in Yulee.  Supporters of candidate Mitt Romney will be serving pizza prior to the meeting at 6:30 p.m.

The Club will be holding a candidate rally sometime in the summer.  Tentative date is July 12.  The last day to register to vote in the August primary is July 28.  Richard King, candidate for Sheriff, spoke to the Club, outlining his qualifications for the job.
