Westside Club News

It’s been a busy month for the club and looks to be even busier in April and May.  Members attended the Republican Executive Club and National Federation of Republican Women’s joint Lincoln Day dinner where the guest speaker was Lt. Governor Jeff Kottkamp.  There was no shortage of our elected officials, local, state and national or candidates running for office.  Congressman Ander Crenshaw and his lovely wife Kitty took time out from their busy schedule to visit with everyone.  It was a great opportunity to speak with our elected officials one-on-one.

The club was nominated for 2008 Club of the Year at the Republican Party of Florida’s Club Summit and selected.  Members attended the Summit in Orlando on March 29 to receive the award.

On April 1, John Crawford, candidate for Clerk of the Court and Larry Williams, candidate for Property Appraiser addressed the club during its regular meeting.  April 8 members will be going to Tallahassee to meet with legislative members as part of the Chamber of Commerce entourage and returning to Tallahassee on April 16 for a luncheon with Rep. Aaron Bean.  Our Relay for Life team is busy raising funds and looking forward to a successful event April 11-12.

Vickie Cannon will be at the May meeting with the new voting machines for a demonstration and explanation of their use.  We also have a booth at the Railroad Days event in Callahan.  Come meet the candidates, register to vote, change your address, or your party affiliation.

The club meets the first Tuesday of each month at the Hilliard Community Center (the old library) on Pecan Street at 7:00 p.m.  Come find out what’s happening in your community and get involved.
