Fernandina - we have your back!Some comments have been made about your fire department, that we are not placing the best interest of the citizens first. Let me assure you that you are our primary reason for being here. Our chiefs may be gone, but we will continue to get on those trucks and come to your aid when you call us. Leadership is very important within the department and we have leaders in place to keep the department running like no one has ever left. There is always someone that steps up to lead when the leader falls, and that is what has taken place in the fire department. We believe that we provide a high quality product to the citizens of Fernandina. We all take great pride in our jobs and how we perform them. I would like to apologize for the few people within the department that have nothing better to do than type blogs attacking the former chiefs and some of its members. Every business always has a few people like this, the fire department isn't any different. It has been a pleasure to serve you and we will continue to provide the highest quality of care to the citizens and visitors of Fernandina Beach.

Thank you for what you do day in and day out , It will be a big change for you without Danny , but you folks will get through it ! God bless you and thank you ! I know you care for this city no matter what a few of those city commissioners say ! We will be getting rid of one in April . He has done nothing for this city even when he was a superintendent in the Sanitation Dept. He allowed his trucks to run down and fall apart to the point they caused accidents with injuries , Then he throws the blame on a employee. KEN WALKER MUST GO !!! Bounty, thanks for your words. I put on the original blog about what a great leader the fire department had lost, and what a great group of men and women that work there in the fire house and the next thing you know someone is running down those folks. What a shame! Those firefighters are a great professional group and they will do just fine. Keep your heads up and be proud of the department that you are apart of. You have the support of the community. Each one of them have been touched by a great person, a man that will admit he was not always right, but was fair and a great chief. |

You are absolutely correct about every business or organization has people like this on their staff. Thank you and the personnel of FBFD for protecting the citizens of Fernandina even though “Thank you” goes unsaid many times.
We truly believe that there are great leaders in this department that can lead it to the next level of greatness. Keep your heads up, and forget about the trash that comes from people like the “Truth and Referee” these are people that hate someone and will destroy the department if given the opportunity.
