Some comments have been made about your fire department, that we are not placing the best interest of the citizens first.  Let me assure you that you are our primary reason for being here.  Our chiefs may be gone, but we will continue to get on those trucks and come to your aid when you call us.  Leadership is very important within the department and we have leaders in place to keep the department running like no one has ever left.  There is always someone that steps up to lead when the leader falls, and that is what has taken place in the fire department.  We believe that we provide a high quality product to the citizens of Fernandina.  We all take great pride in our jobs and how we perform them.  I would like to apologize for the few people within the department that have nothing better to do than type blogs attacking the former chiefs and some of its members.  Every business always has a few people like this, the fire department isn't any different.  It has been a pleasure to serve you and we will continue to provide the highest quality of care to the citizens and visitors of Fernandina Beach.
