Amelia Island Film Festival Wraps

While most people think of sun-baked beaches and charming historic
homes when they think of Amelia Island, there was much more to this
quiet little spot this past week.

Amelia Island turned into a “festival island” last weekend as
hundreds of film enthusiasts, filmmakers, directors, actors,
producers, fans, and more turned out to be part of the Inaugural
Amelia Island Film Festival. The festival ran September 25 - 28, and
lacked nothing in the way of variety: everything from short
documentaries to comedy to musicals, to sci-fi gore graced the silver

Fight Gone Bad III – Fundraiser for a Prostrate Cancer Cure

Fight Gone Bad (FGB) is in its 3rd year as a fundraising event for combating Prostate Cancer.   This year’s event takes place:
Saturday, September 27, 2008, at 9 a.m.
in the Club 14 Fitness Parking Lot

The FGB III workout consists of five challenging exercises, performed for one minute each, with one-minute breaks given after all exercises have been completed. This grueling five-station rotation is then repeated three times per person.

CrossFit Amelia Island is fortunate to be teaming up with CrossFit East, CrossFit Jax, CrossFit SouthSide, CrossFit Camden, and CrossFit Ocala for one local event to be held on Amelia Island.    The event has gained international attention since last year when over 120 CrossFit “affiliates” from around the world participated in the event at one time….9 a.m. at their own location, on the same day.    Last year, over $4,000 was raised locally and over $265,000 was raised by all affiliates.    This year the CrossFit Goal is $500,000 raised, and the Safeway Corporation has guaranteed a matching contribution for whatever total is raised!
