My Nassau Sun

One year later

Today marks the one-year anniversary of My Nassau Sun.

My mother always used to tell me when I complained about this or that to think about how boring life would without challenges to overcome.

I have not been bored this year.

The change from the broadsheet format to a tabloid format, adding a Web site and even getting used to saying the paper’s new name — “Nassau Neig … er, My Nassau Sun” — were all challenges.

And a lot of fun.

Our goal at My Nassau Sun has been to take advantage of the new format to bring you sharp, concise stories of the news here in Nassau, crisp photos and graphics and in-depth looks at important issues.

Wednesday is Sun Day at Bausch & Lomb Championships

My Nassau Sun staff members will be at the Florida Times-Union booth at the Bausch & Lomb Championships tomorrow, Wednesday, April 9.

The atmosphere is always great at the tournament and we're looking forward to being there.

If you're out at the tournament, I hope you'll stop by and say hello.

Here we are, one month on the Sun side of the street. Not to gush, but you like us. You really like us.

Thanks for all the calls, comments and e-mails with both praise and suggestions for My Nassau Sun. There are more changes to come, including new regular features spotlighting the people of Nassau County, as well as additional community columnists sharing their thoughts and expertise.

We’ll also be inviting public officials to write columns in the paper outlining their stance on issues or explaining how government works. If there’s somebody you’d like to hear from in the pages of My Nassau Sun, call me at 261-7606, ext. 6352, or e-mail me at amelia.hart@mynassausun. com.
