 Generous helpings of traditional, big band, be-bop, and Latin jazz cascaded throughout Amelia Island this past week, as the 2008 Les DeMerle Amelia Island Jazz Festival presented its strongest offering to date, thanks in part to a kind nod from the weatherman.  Festival organizers, along with a dedicated group of volunteers and appreciative audiences, could not have been more pleased with the quality of music and the picture perfect climate conditions.

Visiting Amelia Island from Osnabrueck Germany is musician Tommy Schneller. Tommy is a funk and blues saxaphonist and singer. Over the past decade, Tommy has recorded with many German and international Bluesartists and also released 3 CDs of his own including the latest CD "A Heartbeat Away".  Tommy met local musician/songwriter Karl W. Davis in 2006 when they were both teaching master classes in Tournon D’Agenais, France.  Both artist immediately felt a natural musical chemistry with one another, and decided to stay in touch.  In October 2007, Karl performed with Tommy at the Grande Jam Festival in Dortmund, Germany.  Tommy is visiting on holiday and will be joining Karl at his regular performances.
